Tiggers

Tiggers is for 3 & 4 year olds who spend more than their government funding hours at nursery.

Recent changes include the splitting of Tiggers into two rooms, ‘Little’ and ‘Big’.  This is to enable those children who spend a lot of time at nursery to have smaller steps in transition and to spend less time in each room.

Our educational provision has been introduced to provide opportunities for the children to develop skills in the following areas of the early year’s foundation stage curriculum.

Prime Areas:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Physical Development
  • Communication and Language

Specific Areas:

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding of the world
  • Expressive Arts and Design

The children learn these skills through a variety of child initiated activities and carefully planned adult. The children are regularly assessed and activities are tailored to suit their needs. Parents are invited in to discuss their child’s progress at regular intervals throughout the year and to access / input on their child’s tapestry – our online journal. The Tigger’s room offers parents to come in to do a stay and play with their child / children once a week term time only.

As part of our EYFS framework we work in partnership with parents in promoting British Values through play. We ensure children understand their own feelings and behaviour and its consequences, distinguish right from wrong and respecting each other. Staff demonstrate sharing of views and encourage children to vote on different actions within the room. I.e. themes for role play area.
