30 Hours Free Childcare

What is 30 Hours funding?

Whilst the government offers 15 hours free childcare per week for all 3 year olds, some 3 year olds are also eligible for 30 hours free childcare instead. This funding would allow your child to have 30 hours of free childcare per week.

How would 30 hours free funding help me and my child?

This funding allows your child to receive early year’s education at nursery whilst also receiving consistent care.

This funding also helps parents balance out work and other commitments, as well as offer financial support.

When does my child’s funding start?

Your child’s funding will start the term following their 3rd birthday and when you have received a valid 30 hours code, whichever is later.

Start dates for funding are:

April 1st 2019 until August 31st 2019 – Autumn Term Start

September 1st 2019 until December 31st 2019 – Spring Term Start

January 1st 2020 until March 31st 2020 – Summer Term Start

Am I eligible for funding?

You, and any partner, must each expect to earn (on average) at least £131 per week (equal to 16 hours at the National Minimum or Living Wage).

If you, or your partner, are on maternity, paternity or adoption leave, or you’re unable to work because you are disabled or have caring responsibilities, you could still be eligible.

You can’t get 30 hours free childcare if either you, or your partner, each individually expect to earn £100,000 or more.

If you are unsure if this applies to you, take a look at the Childcare Choices website which tells you quick and easy what you are and aren’t eligible for.

How do I apply for 30 hours free funding?

You can apply for all types of funding by using the Childcare Choices calculator. All you need to know is whether you or your partner receive any benefits and/or how much you and your partner earn.

When and how can I use my child’s funding?

We do not offer stretch funding, meaning your child’s funding will only be available during school times. Funding cannot be used to cover lunches, nappies, sun cream or any other consumables!
