How do I get my child to start?

Our priority is making sure all families are comfortable and happy for their child to start with us before they enroll. To do this, we offer tours for families interested in our setting.

During your tour you can meet our staff team, view our classrooms and ask any questions you might have about our routines and day-to-day goings on.

After your tour, you would be invited to complete a waiting list form or enrollment form! We do not charge an enrollment or cancellation fee so if you do change your mind, just let us know.

Enrollment forms are for those who have a guaranteed space, whilst waiting list forms are for those waiting for a space to open up.

Once you have completed a waiting list form, your child is in our books for a space.

Our Waiting List

As mentioned above we do have a waiting list for families who would like to reserve a space for their child. We use our waiting list to predict our class numbers for each term and school year.

Our waiting list is open for all ages however please be aware we will not be able to confirm exact start dates until nearer your child’s intended start date.

Funding

There are a variety of funding options for families to help cover the cost of childcare, including “Free Childcare” funding. These are for working families of children on and over 9 months old, and there is also funding available for families receiving additional support such as Universal Credit or DLA.

Funding is only useable for the “childcare” part of costs, meaning it cannot be used to cover any additional costs such as meals.

If your child predominantly receives funding for a day you will be charged for that days’ lunch. You are invited to provide your child a packed-lunch instead, which will remove your lunch charge. The exception to the rule is Piglets Room as packed lunches are not suitable for under 2 year olds.

Funding can only be used term-time at our setting, which means funding is available when schools are open. For the ease of families whose children attend our setting and the neighbouring Rosemellin Community Primary School, we follow their school dates where possible.

You can view our term-dates, holidays and inset-days here: Calendar

Funding can be split across settings: for example, your child could attend one nursery for 10 hours a week and attend another for 5 hours a week, and you can using your funding at both settings. You will need to declare this on your child’s funding form.

Fees and Sessions

Invoices are made and emailed out to families at the end of the month. Families have until the 10th of the month to inform nursery of any errors with their bill, at which point we will update them as needed.

Sessions are charged by the hourly rate x hours your child attended. Extra hours are charged at the hourly rate as well.

We do not do half-hourly rates or sessions, meaning you will be charged for a full hour if your child arrives earlier than their session starts, or if your child is collected after their session ends.

Example:

If your child’s session starts at 8am and ends at 1pm, but you collect them at 1:15pm, you will be charged a full hours rate for the late collection. Additionally if your child’s session starts at 8:30am and ends at 2:30pm, but you drop your child off at nursery at 8am, you will be charged a full hours rate for the early drop off.

Sick Days and ‘Days Off’ are not included in your invoices as you are only charged when your child attends nursery.

We require two weeks notice for changes to sessions, be the change the days you need or if you need a longer or shorter session. There must be availability for the sessions you require so please speak with your child’s Room Leader if you would like to change your child’s sessions.

There is a minimum of 3 hours per booked session. For example you cannot book a session for 8am until 10am as that is only 2 hours, and we find that children do not get much out of such short session times.

Our fees as of 1st November 2025:

Full-Day (8am until 6pm)£70£80

Lunch Options:

Reminder: Nursery Packed-Lunch and Home-Made Packed-Lunch are not options for children under 2 years old at our setting.

You will be charged £4.25 per day your child has a nursery cooked lunch.

For all ages.

Your child will receive a cooked meal prepared by our on-site chef from our kitchen, with fresh ingredients purchased locally. If you child has any allergies and/or dietary needs, the chef will prepare their meal separately with alternative ingredients which are safe for your child to eat. Children with allergies and/or dietary needs receive meals in red bowls to denote their meal as safe for them.

Cooked Lunches are brought over to the nursery building at 11:30am and served at 11:45am.

You will be charged £3.25 per day your child has a nursery packed-lunch.

2 Year Olds and Over.

Your child will receive a nursery packed-lunch by our on-site chef from our kitchen, once again using fresh ingredients. These meals are served in nursery-provided lunch boxes with sections for each item, and each child who receives this lunch will have their own lunchbox with their name labelled on it. These lunch boxes are kept on-site as after meals they are cleaned and stored within the chef’s kitchen.

Again these meals are tailored to your child’s allergy and/or dietary needs. Nursery packed-lunches are brought over to the nursery building at 11:30am and served at 11:45am.

You will not be charged.

2 Year Olds and Over.

You are invited to provide your child with a home-made packed-lunch instead of paying for a nursery-prepared meal.

You will be expected to provide your child with food that is safe for them to eat. If your child has an allergy and/or dietary need and you put an item containing said allergy in their lunch box, nursery will not allow them to eat it. Please communicate with your child’s classroom if they are currently going through the milk ladder or similar dietary processes.

We understand that some families may be uncertain of what a packed-lunch needs to have, so we have a guide for families so they know what they can prepare for their child and to make sure their child gets all the nutrients they need! You can view said guide here: LINK

The children and their families are at the heart of everything we do, so we pride ourselves on providing financially sound options for all families in regards to childcare and lunches. We offer funded sessions outside of school hours (9am until 3pm) so families don’t get charged before and after the school day ends.

We do not charge for fees for wet wipes or nappies. We ask families to provide these items for their children, however we always have spare on hand for emergencies.

We do ask for a payment of £2 for the cost of sun screen, however this only occurs once per school year and is charged during the summer months. Families who would prefer to provide their own sunscreen or would like their child not to wear sunscreen are exempt from this, however please notify the finance team if you are charged by mistake.

The only other fees you may be asked to make are optional, such as donating 50p for Comic Relief or when you purchase an event ticket or merchandise. Again we try to provide options for all families so fundraising for events and charities does not break the bank, and if you have any suggestions on how we can do better in the future, please let us know at the main office!

As a charity all income goes right back into the nursery – whether that be paying our amazing staff team, updating our site and grounds with new equipment, and purchasing resources such as toys for the children to play with! We do have a cause on EasyFundraising that allows families to raise additional funds for nursery without any added costs to you directly; if this is something you are interested in, follow this link!
